Silent Hill F New Trailer Details Konami

Silent Hill F Gets New Trailer and Details – Coming to Consoles and PC

Last night during a Silent Hill Transmission stream, Konami unveiled the first details and a new trailer for Silent Hill F, the next mainline entry in the acclaimed horror series. Unfortunately, the reveal trailer didn’t offer a release date yet but players suspect that we’ll have to wait a year or two before its release.

Silent Hill F will take place in Japan in the 1960s instead of the usual setting of the titular rural town in Maine, US. It’s not the first game in the series to not explicitly be set in the town – Team Silent made it a point in Silent Hill 3 and Silent Hill 4: The Room that the games can still have connections to the town without necessarily being set in them, so it will be interesting to see how the Japanese setting ties into the haunted location in the US.

The game’s story description reads:

“Shimizu Hinako was living her life as an ordinary teenager. That is, until her town is suddenly shrouded in fog and begins to change in a horrific way. Now she must explore a town she no longer recognises while solving puzzles, fighting strange enemies and doing everything she can to survive, in order to face the ultimate decision that she must make. This is a tale about a beautiful yet terrifying choice.”

Silent Hill series producer Motoi Okamoto spoke in a bit more detail about the central themes in the story and how terror can even be found in beauty. “While Silent Hill F retains the series’ core elements of psychological horror, we challenged ourselves by setting the game in Japan and leaning on those themes,” said Okamoto.

“A noticeable feature of Japanese horror is the idea that terror can be found within beauty,” he added. “When something becomes too immensely beautiful and perfect, it instead becomes deeply unsettling. And so, players will experience this world through the eyes of a young girl who is faced with a beautiful yet terrifying decision.”

Konami also announced that long-time series composer Akira Yamaoka will be returning to co-compose the music alongside Dynasty Warriors composer Kensuke Inage.

Silent Hill F is in development for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. Watch the reveal trailer below.
