Silent Hill Townfall NoCode Annapurna

Silent Hill: Townfall Revealed from NoCode and Annapurna

Silent Hill: Townfall was revealed during yesterday’s Silent Hill Transmission event. The project, billed as a new entry in the long-running psychological horror series by Konami, will be co-produced by developer NoCode Studios and publisher Annapurna Interactive. Details on the mysterious title are scarce beyond an intriguing first trailer.

Most of the trailer for Silent Hill: Townfall consists of a series of disturbing images and footage, intercut with photos of ocean waves in black and white (then bright red in the end). The last shot zooms in on a pocket CRTV while someone demanded to know why the listener was here. “Why are you here?” he asks. “Here to be punished… That’s good I like it. I think we’ve done something so awful that we are stuck here in this place being judged by these… people.” It’s quite an eerie trailer that matches the tone and off-kilter atmosphere of Silent Hill.

NoCode creative director Jon McKellan briefly appeared to briefly talk about Silent Hill: Townfall, stating that it “respects the source material but also does something a little bit different with it.” He added that the team isn’t ready to show more of the game yet, but there will be more information revealed sometime next year. NoCode’s resume includes games like Stories Untold and Observation.

In related news, Konami had a massive showing of several Silent Hill projects yesterday, including the reveal of the long-rumoured Silent Hill 2 remake by Bloober Team that includes Team Silent’s artist Masahiro Ito and composer Akira Yamaoka. Silent Hill F was also revealed, touted as a new entry coming from Resident Evil Re:Verse support studio NeoBards Entertainment and acclaimed Japanese visual novel writer Ryukishi07, who created Higurashi (When They Cry) and Umineko.

Silent Hill: Townfall is currently in development, though doesn’t have a release date or confirmed platforms yet. Check out the reveal trailer below.
