Skateboarding Game “Skater XL” Announced for PS4

Easy Day Studios has announced a new skateboarding game coming to the PS4 called Skater XL. The game released back in 2018 for PC and will be arriving on PS4 later this year. According to the PlayStation Blog, it has been ten years since a new, authentic skateboarding game released on the market and Skater XL for PS4 will reinvent the genre while being inspired by the likes of EA’s Skate and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater. Dan Hedgpeth revealed the game on the blog and claimed that the studio had always imagined what a skateboarding game designed from the ground up would look like today.

According to Dan, Skater XL has been designed to be fun in the same way skateboarding is fun with the core gameplay designed as an expressive and creative tool. The game does not have any tricks programmed into it, Dan claims. Users will control the movement through the thumbsticks with each stick corresponding to each of your character’s foot.

See below where the same movements have been made on the sticks in different modes of the gameplay. The front foot is pushed left and the back foot is pushed right, creating the same movement of the board in each situation.[/perfectpullquote]

The Playstation Blog then goes on to list a handful of tricks users can perform in-game. Grinding, flicking, power sliding and more. The combination of the control system and tricks will allow users freedom to master their movements in Skater XL for PS4.

According to the post, the environment has also been designed to allow for the freedom to challenge yourself and learn new things each time you play. Take a look at the trailer for this upcoming Skater XL coming to PS4 in 2020.
