The Elder Scrolls IV: Skyblivion

SKYBLIVION is The Gorgeous Oblivion Remake We Have Always Wanted

The Elder Scrolls series is known for its fantastic mod releases and fan recreations but we don’t often see fully-fledged remakes of the games. The Elder Scrolls IV: Skyblivion is an ambitious remake project which has been in development since 2012. The development team consists of just over 50 people working on various aspects of the game. The aim of the project is to remake The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion in a gorgeous new way and re-introduce it to the world. According to the latest developer diary, the project is looking rather epic and we can’t wait to get our hands on it.

The team recently released a new developer video for the project which highlights the game’s current progress. Much of this video showcases how the team are working on remaking the game’s map by including all the original locations but with a fresh coat of paint. According to the video, the overall environment for the project is almost complete with seven out of the ten main areas now in the final polishing phase.

The team have detailed how they have brought the landscape throughout The Elder Scrolls IV: Skyblivion to life by incorporating lush forests of different trees, large rocks and mountains together to deliver a unique visual showcase for each area.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Skyblivion will also include a new UI which fans of the series will be familiar with but at the same time, it aims to deliver a refreshing experience. This includes some fantastic 3D loading screens which have to be seen to be believed.

The biggest achievement in the latest dev video revolves around the game’s quests. The team behind The Elder Scrolls IV: Skyblivion remake has successfully imported all the original game’s quests into the project. Now, the team need to work on fine-tuning these quests and how they play out. This is no small task as the dev team now need to work their way through 219 quests. They claim that some quests are easily converted by others require scripting of certain events, animations and often recreating a whole environment for these stories to take place in.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Skyblivion looks like a beautiful game so far and I have to commend the team for all the hard work. This is a hobby project and one of the finest around. All we can hope for is that the team get the support they need from fans to encourage them through the toughest of times. I highly suggest you follow them and support them as much as you can.
