Slitterhead Gameplay Summer Game Fest Silent Hill Keiichiro Toyama

Slitterhead Debuts Crazy Horror Gameplay With Release Date

Slitterhead, the upcoming horror game from Silent Hill and Gravity Rush creator Keiichiro Toyama and Bokeh Game Studio, recently debuted its first crazy gameplay at Summer Game Fest along with a release date of 8 November 2024.

The gameplay for Slitterhead, which was teased to make a debut at tonight’s Summer Game Fest by Geoff Keighley, does echo a bit of Ghostwire: Tokyo as it places a lot of emphasis on action and disposing of terrifying, nightmarish enemies with unique abilities. The gimmick, if one can call it that, comes from the supernatural ability to instantly take control of various NPCs via a kind of parasitic organism.

Furthermore, it looks like each NPC you’ll be able to control will come with their own unique abilities, either in combat, stealth or defence. One character is even shown having a limb ripped off that he can instantly reconnect to his body while in mid-air.

For the most part, Slitterhead leans more into action adventure territory with some light horror elements mostly brought forward by the creepy designs of the creatures in the game. It’s a game entirely built on its concept that could either be great or terrible depending on how well Bokeh Game Studio executes its mechanics. Since this is largely the same team behind Gravity Rush, it will be interesting to see how far the team’s talent has come.

Slitterhead‘s gameplay trailer leaked a few hours ahead of Summer Game Fest, either as an accident on Bokeh Game Studio’s part or intentionally posted ahead of time for some reason. Nonetheless, we have our first proper look at gameplay.

Slitterhead launches on 8 November 2024 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. Watch the latest gameplay trailer below:
