Larian Studios recently released patch 3 for its latest RPG, Baldur’s Gate 3, which added the long-requested option to change your character’s appearance mid-game as well as introduce a number of quality of life improvements and changes. However, most of these changes haven’t gone down well with some fans, especially for the shared stash feature which now automatically reallocates companions’ items to the player character, Tav.
A recent Reddit post by user eSpasm outlines the various problems brought up by players following patch 3‘s launch for Baldur’s Gate 3. Some fans disliked Raphael’s small redesign while others criticised several missing cutscenes, dialogue and animations possibly as a result of bugs. Gale fans noticed that the character is also a lot colder towards players trying to romance the wizard. Others have pointed out that Dammon, a critical NPC for Karlach’s quest, can suddenly die in Act 2 because of the suspicious cow.

However, the most discussed issue in Baldur’s Gate 3‘s latest patch revolves around the shared stash feature. Basically, when you dismiss a companion now, all of their important quest items get transferred to the player. This is helpful in case you come across a quest and suddenly don’t have the required item to progress because it’s in the inventory of a companion back at camp. Most quickly noticed that it isn’t just quest items being transferred to the player but bulks of camp supplies, pouches and even specific armours and weapons.
One Reddit user complained:
“Call me back when this is fixed back to the way it was or there’s a mod for it. My main character is not a mule to carry all of companions bags and pouches when they’re dismissed from party. And I don’t want to play without sorting items into bags, it’s a giant untenable mess. It also moves orange equipment to your main character’s inventory, which means armor and weapons!”
The list of problems mentioned in the Reddit thread also highlight certain doors being bugged, players being unable to save the game after trading, Wyll’s story progression being bugged in Act 3, censored scenes being shown even when the censorship option is toggled off and the camera now strictly focusing on Tav during conversations without seeing the expressions of companions anymore.
Larian Studios has yet to address these problems publicly, though a hotfix might remedy some issues in the near future.
In other news, the voice cast of Baldur’s Gate 3 reunited recently, causing some to speculate that more story content or DLC could be on the way. Larian is also working on implementing crossplay across PS5 and PC.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is now available for PS5 and PC. An Xbox Series X/S version is expected to launch before the end of the year.
