The release date for the upcoming open-world game Sonic Frontiers has seemingly leaked via a SteamDB update. Publisher SEGA hasn’t revealed an exact release date for the game, but it looks like fans won’t have to wait long as it may arrive on 8 November 2022, pitting it against both Ubisoft’s Skull and Bones and PlayStation’s God of War Ragnarok in the same week.
As spotted by Twitter user Aozora, SteamDB provided an update listing Sonic Frontiers with a release date of 8 November 2022. SEGA hasn’t officially announced a date yet, but SteamDB leaks have been fairly accurate in the past.

The final date could change until we get an official confirmation – especially considering that it’s being sandwiched between two high-profile AAA games that might be seen as self-sabotage on SEGA’s part. If anything, it’s possible that SEGA will move this release date either up or down by a few days or weeks to give Sonic Frontiers some breathing room and hope for decent sales.
November is continuing to stack on big titles, which will probably include Sonic Frontiers unless plans change. That said, God of War Ragnarok is a guaranteed hit for PlayStation so Ubisoft’s placement of Skull and Bones a mere day before that title’s release date is bizarre (and could very well be self-sabotage too).
Sonic Frontiers has been making the rounds online since it debuted new gameplay, but for all the wrong reasons. Fans have stated that the game looks unfinished, empty and a bit short on content if it’s to sell players on the idea of an open-world Sonic game. Hopefully SEGA has gone back to the drawing board to address and rectify these concerns before the game arrives later this year.
Sonic Frontiers is now rumoured to release on 8 November 2022 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch and PC.
