Sonic Racing CrossWorlds Leaked

SEGA is planning to launch a new Sonic Racing game this year. The company expressed its interest in making the Sonic The Hedgehog series an annual video game and after Sonic X Shadows Generations in 2024, it seems that we’ll be scooting around the track this year in Sonic Racing CrossWorlds.

While the game has not been announced yet (likely to debut at the State of Play tonight), a leaked image has appeared online showing off the start screen. It clearly shows the logo, Sonic Racing CrossWorlds and that it is a video game.

We can’t upload the image here because SEGA will freak out so you’ll have to view it over on this link

However, the most exciting part of the image is the confirmation that the racing game will bring back hoverboards. If you don’t recall, hoverboards originally debuted in Sonic Riders, one of the most underrated Sonic Racing-like games ever released. You can see Jet the Hawk flying riding one of these boards in the top-left corner of the image.

We don’t know if Sonic Racing CrossWorlds will include other Sonic Riders cast members like Wave the Swallow or Storm the Albatross but the fact that Jet the Hawk is here means the game is finally getting the recongnition it deserves.

The image also shows Shadow riding a giant off-road vehicle, Knuckles is on some sort of go kart, Tails is in the air flying a plane-like hybrid, and Dr Eggman is on a drill machine thing. Of course, Sonic is driving his classic blue speedster.

I also noticed that the art work features quite a retro vibe to it. If you look at the top and outer edges of the image, you’ll see some 16-bit references. Perhaps this Sonic Racing game will see us race through not only various worlds from the series but also eras. Regardless, I can’t wait.

We can likely expect the announcement to take place this evening during the State of Play. We’ll share the full details as we have them.
