Sonic The Hedgehog director Jeff Fowler and screenwriters Pat Casey and Josh Miller will all be returning to work on the movie sequel. Fowler confirmed the news on Twitter citing an article from Variety confirming the sequel is currently in the works.

The news of a Sonic The Hedgehog movie sequel comes as no surprise. The film was a massive hit worldwide earning $70 million in its first four days of release in February 2020. However, the movie did get some nasty feedback when it was first revealed due to Sonic’s design. Thankfully, Paramount delayed the movie in order to fix the design feedback. The result was a lovable character in a great film that deserves a sequel.

Little is known about the sequel at this point. We don’t know when it will release or who will return from a cast perspective. However, the ending of the original movie set a path for any possibility of going forward. Jim Carrey will return as Dr Robotnik alongside Ben Schwartz voicing the adorable blue hedgehog.
