Sonic X Shadow Generations Game Leaked PlayStation State of Play

Sonic X Shadow Generations Leaked Ahead of State of Play

A new Sonic the Hedgehog game has leaked ahead of the upcoming PlayStation State of Play event. Prominent leaker Nick Baker previously reported that a remake/remaster of Sonic Generations would be announced at the event, though we now know it will probably be titled Sonic X Shadow Generations.

The news was picked up by reputable leaker Kurakasis, who stated that the new Sonic game is likely titled Sonic X Shadow Generations. Nick Baker later retweeted the post, adding more fuel to the fire. It’s unclear if this is a straight remaster of Sonic Generations or something else entirely since it carries a new title, though we won’t have to wait much longer to find out as it’s heavily rumoured to be revealed at today’s State of Play show.

Sonic Generations originally released in 2011, developed by Sonic Team and published by Sega for PS3, Xbox 360, PC and Nintendo 3DS. The game was met with a positive reception. Media outlets praised its gameplay which seamlessly blended 3D with side-scrolling traversal and levels. Later games like Sonic Forces would attempt to blur those lines again but to less positive results.

PlayStation says fans can expect the upcoming State of Play to run for 40 minutes and feature over 15 game reveals. Thanks to Nick Baker, we know that Sonic X Shadow Generations will be one of those games alongside other potential updates for Death Stranding 2, Silent Hill 2, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and a new Metro VR game, among others. PlayStation also confirmed that we can expect gameplay deep dives into both Stellar Blade and Rise of the Ronin at the event.
