Sony has finally announced its 2023 Bravia TV lineup. The announcement this year came a bit later that expected. Usually, the company showcases this tech at CES but for some reason, Sony opted to skip the expo and host a delayed reveal in March. Regardless, the new Sony Bravia 2023 TV lineup includes some modest upgrades to the already-feature-packed range. Most TVs are getting slightly higher brightness, increased dimming zones and a few tweaks here and there.
As usual, Sony is pushing its Cognitive Processor XR which the company introduced a few years ago on its “J” TV lineup. This Cognitive Processor XR handles image processing across the TV range and the 2023 lineup is no different. However, Sony is adding a new feature to this processing pipeline this year called XR Clear Image which adapts picture adjustments based on the quality of source material.

If the source material is of high quality, the processor won’t touch anything. However, Sony says that the algorithm is smart enough to detect a 1080p video and even low bitstream 4K video and add extra refinements to the image processing while reserving the natural elements on the screen.
All of the 2023 Sony Bravia TV models now support 4K 120Hz. However, they are all still limited to 2 x HDMI 2.1 ports. Sony has also added a new Gaming Hub page to the TV which integrates with the PS5. The company will also extend support to the Xbox later down the line.
All the TVs are also getting Sony’s new Eco Dashboard. It is an app where users can quickly toggle all the energy-saving modes on the TV in one quick glance. This includes tweaking the backlight, standby time and power-saving settings.
Here is a rundown of the range from the entry-level model all the way up to the new (very pricey) QD-OLED. Keep in mind that Sony has simply listed the brightness improvements to be a certain percent higher than the previous model TVs. This doesn’t accurately detail what the TV brightness can reach so we’ll have to wait for tests.
Sony says that the TV range will be available in the Middle East and Africa in May 2023. Pricing has yet to be announced.
