Marvels Iron Man VR Demo

Sony Announces Iron Man VR Coming in 2019

During the inaugural PlayStation State of Play stream, Sony opened with a reveal trailer for a new Marvel project they are working on, Iron Man VR, which has been built over the past two years. According to the developer, this will be the ultimate Iron Man fantasy game developed exclusively for PS VR.

If you ever wanted to fly around as Iron Man and wear the suit and the awesome advanced helmet then soon you will be able to, if you own a PS VR headset. The trailer showcased Tony Stark on a private jet speaking to his assistant before the plane gets shot at by a strange hacker that interrupts his broadcast with the words “you cannot outrun your past”.

The trailer then shows Tony Stark “suit up” into the Iron Man suit before he flies into the unknown hostiles. The trailer then showcases what seems to be a gameplay simulation where Iron Man fires back at the enemies and uses his head to focus on his attackers.

Developer Camoflaj is creating this experience and the Director at Camouflaj, Ryan Payton, explained that:

From the very first day on the project, our team in Seattle has maintained an unwavering commitment to leverage the strengths of VR while enabling players to feel like the world-famous hero. We have focused on making flying, shooting, and epic Super Hero actions feel natural and powerful on PlayStation VR. When you get your hands on the game later this year, I hope that you, like those on the team who have played early development versions of the game, take off your PS VR headset, smile, and say, “Wow… I feel like Iron Man!”

With the success of Marvel’s Spider-Man, let’s hope that Sony and Camouflaj manages to bring the Marvel magic to VR and truly immerse players into the role of Iron Man with the use of PlayStation VR. Iron Man VR could be the VR superhero experience we have been waiting for.
