Sony Announces Play at Home Initiative and Gives Away Two Free Games

Sony seldom gives stuff away for free. Sure, we have PlayStation Plus but we pay for that so it does not count. As a PlayStation gamer, you know that most free games arrive on PC from Steam, and the Epic Games Store. That is about to change as Sony has announced the Play At Home initiative and is giving away two free games this week for everyone regardless of you having a PlayStation Plus subscription or not.

Starting on 16 April 2020 up until 6 May 2020, users can download Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, and Journey on PS4 for no charge at all. Once you have the games you also own them so you can download and play them whenever you want. Sony announced the Play At Home initiative on the PlayStation Blog where President and CEO Jim Ryan shared a heartfelt message to PlayStation fans.

We are deeply grateful to everyone practising physical distancing and take our responsibility as a home entertainment platform seriously, so we are asking our community to continue supporting the safe choice and the need to Play At Home.

As a thank you to all who are doing their part to lessen the impact of this pandemic, Sony Interactive Entertainment is pleased to announce the Play At Home initiative.

Play At Home has two components: First, providing free games to help keep the PlayStation community entertained at home; and finally, establishing a fund to help smaller independent game studios who may be experiencing financial difficulties continue building great experiences for all gamers.
