Sony Delists Uncharted 4 and Lost Legacy Standalone Games From PlayStation Store

Ahead of the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection announcement yesterday afternoon, it seems Sony delisted both standalone versions of Uncharted 4 and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy from the PlayStation Store. If you go looking for the games now, you’ll only find the digital bundle offer available for purchase.

Up to now, users could buy Uncharted 4 or Uncharted: The Lost Legacy on PS4 for R329 each. However, seen as Sony is offering a $10/R180 upgrade from either game to the PS5 remaster collection, the company doesn’t want people buying only one game and benefitting from an upgrade to two games.

In short, if you own either Uncharted 4 or The Lost Legacy on PS4, you can pay $10/R180 to upgrade it to the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection that includes both games. That is great news for early adopters of the games but for those looking to pull a quick one and buy a single version in order to get the collection, that is now impossible.

The only way to upgrade now is to purchase the R719 game bundle on the PlayStation Store. You’ll then need to pay R180 more in January to upgrade to the PS5 Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection. However,  you can also try and track down a disc version of either Uncharted 4 or The Lost Legacy as either game will also entitle you to the upgrade. It just means you’ll need to put the disc in every time you play the digitally downloaded upgrade.

Sony is clearly watching its profit margins very closely at the moment. The company has not only removed the standalone games from the PlayStation Store but also prevented players who own Uncharted 4 through PlayStation Plus from upgrading to the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection. This means you cannot buy the $10/R180 upgrade and instead, need to purchase the full R899 collection.

Paid upgrades have become a sort of sore topic surrounding PlayStation in recent weeks. Sony has been locking out free PS5 upgrades for PlayStation Plus games. The latest game to suffer from this is Mortal Shell which launched on PS+ yesterday. While there is a free PS5 upgrade available, the PS+ version doesn’t enable players to upgrade the game either. Instead, they need to pay R519 for the enhanced edition.

Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection is out on 28 January 2022. Find out more about the game here.
