Sony Files Trademark for The Order: 1886

Probably one of the most underrated games of the early PS4 generation was The Order: 1886. The game was developed by Ready at Dawn and made full use of the PS4 hardware. So much so that it still today is one of the most visually captivating games you can play. Sadly, its linear gameplay and the short story didn’t sit well with critics and even though the ending teased a possible sequel, it has never happened. However, things might be shifting around at Ready at Dawn.

According to a new trademark application, Sony might be planning on reviving the game. The company has just recently filed a trademark for The Order: 1886 which means either of two things. Firstly, this new trademark could simply mean that Sony was renewing the game’s name for property reasons. The other could be a remaster/remake.

While I want to believe that Sony is working with Ready at Dawn on a new game, there is a slim chance of this happening. Ready at Dawn has not produced a single PS4 or PlayStation game since The Order: 1886. In fact, the studio has been strictly working on Oculus and PC games.

The Order: 1886

Sure, the studio helped Sony back in the day with multiple PlayStation exclusives such as God of War: Origins Collection, God of War: Ghost of Sparta, Chains of Olympus and even Daxter, it hasn’t done much since.

While this new trademark could possibly mean a PS5 port is incoming, don’t get your hopes up just yet. Sony all but abandoned The Order: 1886 soon after launch so there’s a slim chance of a port coming soon. You can still play the game on PS4 and PS5 through backwards compatibility.
