Sony Interactive Entertainment, the division that runs PlayStation, has announced its plans to acquire Audeze.
Audeze is best known for its high-end headphones targeted at gamers and audio producers. Audeze makes expensive equipment which is often used at studio level. You can purchase some of the best audio tech from Audeze and almost everything they make is of premium quality.
In the announcement, Audeze says that under the Sony brand, the company will still continue to make headphones and equipment for competitors. However, the acquisition will also shift focus towards the PlayStation brand as Audeze starts to work with PS5 technology specifically.
“Audeze is a premier brand for headphones, and this acquisition highlights Sony Interactive’s focus on innovation and providing the best audio experience to PlayStation players. We’re excited to bring Audeze’s expertise into the PlayStation ecosystem, building on the great strides we’ve made with PlayStation 5’s Tempest 3D AudioTech and the Pulse 3D wireless headset.”
The company says that the deal will offer the company a wide reach as it gives them access to the entire PlayStation fanbase across the ecosystem.
“Sony Interactive provides Audeze with a unique opportunity to scale our business, as we continue with our mission to deliver best-in-class headphones to recording professionals, audiophiles and gamers. We’re also looking forward to contributing to Sony Interactive’s efforts to take PlayStation audio experiences to the next level.”
The financial terms of the sale have not been made public and likely won’t in the future. Sony hasn’t shared whether or not Audeze had anything to do with the recently-announced audio products from the brand including the Pulse Elite and Pulse Explore devices.
