Sony Named Metacritic’s Best Game Publisher of 2022

Sony Interactive Entertainment has been crowned the best game publisher of 2022 by aggregate website Metacritic. The data was collected from the review scores of various titles published by PlayStation last year including God of War Ragnarok and The Last of Us Part I to form an overall average score.

Last year, Sony published a number of games on PS4, PS5 and PC with a vast majority of them being critical successes. The heaviest hitters were God of War Ragnarok which currently sits with a 93 average score on the platform as well as The Last of Us Part I. However, other Sony published titles like Horizon Forbidden West, Gran Turismo 7 and the PC releases for Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection, Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales all contributed towards the accumulated winning average score of 85.6.

  2. Paradox Interactive
  3. Activision Blizzard
  4. Focus Entertainment
  5. Take-Two Interactive

Sony is set to have another big year in 2023 with plenty of first-party titles planned from the publisher. Sitting at the top of PlayStation’s most anticipated upcoming games is Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, which had its September release month leaked recently by Venom actor Tony Todd. We can also expect more PC releases to arrive in the next few months including rumoured ports for Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart and Ghost of Tsushima.

Sony’s biggest competitor, Microsoft, is also gunning for the list this year after a quiet 2022. Xbox currently has Redfall, Starfield and Forza Motorsport locked in for release this year which could result in big critic scores as well.
