Sony Pulls Dino Crisis After it Mysteriously Appeared on PS Plus List

Yesterday, the Italian PlayStation Plus games for July listed a few surprises coming to the service, namely Dino Crisis, Ridge Racer 2 and SoulCalibur: Broken Destiny. Merely a few hours after the listing, Sony pulled all three games for some reason, indicating that it might’ve been accidentally leaked ahead of schedule.

Twitter user Nibellion reported the discrepancy, noticing that all three games vanished from the Italian PS Plus listing. No reason was given by PlayStation, though fans speculate that it might’ve been an accident on Sony’s part and it was swiftly rectified. Oddly enough, this wasn’t the first time that Dino Crisis seemingly appeared on the PlayStation Plus line-up, as an advert for it surfaced on the service in Asia a few months ago.

Dino Crisis, Ridge Racer 2 and SoulCalibur: Broken Destiny are quite nostalgic titles for fans and it would’ve been a huge boost to the appeal of PlayStation Plus had it remained on the line-up for July. It’s possible that Sony is aiming to add these games at a later stage, especially since Dino Crisis remains a fan-favourite PS1 classic (that has yet to be acknowledged by Capcom).

On the plus side, fans can at least look forward to two PSP games, LocoRoco Midnight Carnival and No Heroes Allowed, this month. Unfortunately, the sting of three highly-requested classic titles being removed at the last minute is a bit disheartening.

Despite the huge success of the Resident Evil remakes, Capcom has yet to address a possible return of the Dino Crisis franchise. The series saw three entries – each with varying quality – many generations ago, though the first game released for PS1 remains the most beloved by fans and also one of the most requested to receive the remake treatment.

Capcom does have another dinosaur shooter in the works, Exoprimal, though it’s a far cry from what fans really seem to be craving.
