Sony really knows how to spend money. They might not spend it on developing PS3 emulation for the PS5 but they have a marketing budget that is capable of funding large-budget trailers. The company released a new spectacle to celebrate the launch of the all-new PlayStation Plus service. If you don’t know by now, the new service is officially live across the globe with South Africa, Australia and New Zealand being the last countries to get the program.
I have covered the new PlayStation Plus in lots of detail over the past few weeks including comparing the game roster in the US and Asia markets, sharing details on our South African game list and giving you a complete breakdown of how you can sign-up and upgrade to the various tiers. Now that you have caught up, gaze upon Sony’s new fancy trailer all about the nostalgia. The trailer is called Mr Malcolm and celebrates games, the PlayStation Studios library and sheds light on some of the titles you can get in the new PlayStation Plus service.
Sony says the trailer took 35 days of video prep in order to plan the shoot. It then took six days of filming across six different locations. The trailer had 94 crew members involved, 68 actors and used more than 1270 props. This includes 80 trophies and 120 clocks.
Of course, this is a nostalgia trailer so Sony has hidden dozens of easter eggs throughout the trailer to spot. The company says there are objects, posters and references to games everywhere.
We want to thank the PlayStation community for taking this journey with us over the past decade as PlayStation Plus has evolved throughout the years. This is the beginning of a new era for PlayStation Plus and we are excited about the possibilities ahead. Stay tuned for our monthly announcements on future games that will be offered to PlayStation Plus members.
