Sony Reportedly Set To Host Massive PlayStation Showcase Event This Week

We know that Sony is announcing its Game Pass competitor this week. The service aims to rival Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass and offer an instant game library to console owners as well as classic PS3, PS2 and PSOne games through cloud streaming. However, reports claim that Sony has a lot more up its sleeve this week. Insiders report that the company will host a PlayStation Showcase event this week which will last over 30 minutes and play host to a number of reveals.

A post on Twitter (which has since been deleted) claims that Sony will officially reveal its PlayStation VR2 headset features and showcase the hardware in full this week. The report claims that the company will also announce the official pricing for the tech but not announce the release date yet.

Greg Miller also chimed into the rumours on Twitter saying that Sony might have a very interesting week ahead. He claims that he is aware of three rumours going around in regards to Sony’s PlayStation Showcase. He followed up by saying that even if one of these rumours are true, it is going to be exciting.

The first rumour is the PlayStation Plus Project Spartacus announcement. Of which we already know this is definitely taking place. The second rumour is the PlayStation VR2 showcase. The third rumour relates to an announcement regarding The Last of Us Part II.

Naughty Dog is reportedly gearing up to announce a PS5 version of the game alongside the much anticipated “Factions” multiplayer mode.

There’s also a wild rumour going around that Sony is going to unveil a PS5 Pro Controller. However, this is the first time we have heard about this news. But like all rumours on the internet, take them at face value. Sony will most likely announce its State of Play/PlayStation Showcase either today or tomorrow as the company gets ready to show off its plans for the PlayStation brand.
