Sony’s launch plans for the PS5 seem to have leaked. According to an internal memo, the console maker is planning to take Microsoft down by announcing and launching the PS5 way before Microsoft’s upcoming console.

According to the report, Sony will be hosting its PlayStation 5 Meeting event on 12 February 2020 where the company will showcase the console. The event will be attended by media and software houses including Activision, Square Enix, Ubisoft, and EA Games.
The aim of the event is to present the future of Sony PlayStation to the whole world with the main focus being the PS5 reveal. Sony also plans on readjusting its marketing approach for The Last of Us Part II and Ghost of Tsushima which will be two big flagship titles for the event.
Both The Last of Us Part II and Ghost of Tsushima will no doubt be launch titles for the upcoming console if this memo is anything to go by. Meaning the games could launch on PS4 and PS5 at the same time.
The PlayStation Meeting will also host a reveal of a new PlayStation VR 2 prototype. The PSVR 2 is said to be released in 2021.
The roadmap for the PS5 launch seems quite solid. Sony plans on announcing the console in February 2020 with a release date soon after. We could see the console release as soon as September 2020 if they want to beat Microsoft to the market.
For now, this is unconfirmed so take it as a rumour. The internal memo seems quite legit but until Sony confirms this, don’t go getting your hopes up. You can start saving for the PS5 console. Sony is going to pull a fast one on us and release it when we least expect it.
