Thymesia, the upcoming Soulslike action-RPG from developer OverBorder Studio, finally has a release date of 9 August 2022. The grueling, fast-paced title will hit PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC when it launches, meaning it will only arrive on current generation consoles.
Soulslike titles are games largely inspired by From Software’s iconic action-RPG Dark Souls, offering challenging gameplay, stamina management and creatively compelling boss fights. Thymesia is the latest in that subgenre to gain some traction in the community thanks to its slick and faster combat, drawing some comparisons to Ninja Gaiden too.

Unfortunately, Thymesia will not be coming to PS4 and Xbox One. This might be disappointing news for owners of the last generation consoles, though it could simply be a decision made by the studio to lighten the game’s development.
The game’s Steam description provides a more accurate breakdown of what players can expect:
“Thymesia is a grueling action-RPG with fast-paced combat and an intricate plague weapon system. In a kingdom where death spreads, play as a mysterious character known by the code name ‘Corvus’. Prey upon your enemies, wield the power of disease and find the truth in your own memories.”
Thymesia was originally planned to release in December 2021, but was delayed to give the game more time in development. Now with a release date locked in, OverBorder Studio also revealed that a Steam demo is now available until 9 May.
