It was the first week of the brand new Fast and the Furious on the South African box office and it put up quite the fight coming in right under The Lion King. Fast and Furious: Hobbs and Shaw will no doubt be a tough contender as it landed in second place in the South African box office top 10 during its opening weekend.

Other films making the top 10 include The Lion King which has been at the number one spot since its debut three weeks ago, Spider-Man: Far From Home which was bumped from second to third by Hobbs and Shaw and Toy Story 4 which is still going strong in its seventh week in the charts.

The Lion King is still king of revenue in the top 10 at the moment making over R68 million in 3 weeks. Fast and Furious: Hobbs and Shaw managed to make R10.8 million on its opening weekend so if it keeps up its momentum, it may dethrone The Lion King.
