Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is expected to launch next week in early access for Gold and Ultimate Edition owners. If you’re playing on PS5 or Xbox Series X/S, Focus Entertainment has detailed the graphics modes you can toggle between in the game as well as shared information on cross-play, FSR and DLSS features.
First off, the console versions of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 come with two graphics modes, except for the Xbox Series S which is locked into one. The modes include Quality Mode and Performance Mode.

- PS5: 4K at 30FPS
- Xbox Series X: 4K at 30FPS
- Xbox Series S: 1440p at 30FPS
- Performance Mode
- PS5: 1080p at up to 60FPS
- Xbox Series X: 1080p at up to 60FPS
- Xbox Series S: Not available
Focus says the console versions of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 include FSR2 at launch and FSR3 support is planned for post-launch. In addition, the game doesn’t include any raytracing or HDR on consoles.
As to when you can pre-load Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, Focus says the Xbox Series X/S version of the game is now available to pre-load. It will then unlock on either 5 September or 9 September depending on the version you purchase.
PS5 owners can start pre-loading on 3 September at 04:00 am CAT if they purchased the Gold of Ultimate Edition. Standard Editions will be available to pre-load from 7 September. There is no PC pre-loading available. Launch times are as follows:
- Early Access
- PS5/Xbox – 5 September 15:00 CAT
- PC – 5 September 18:00 CAT
- Standard Access
- PS5/Xbox/PC – 9 September 18:00 CAT

- Campaign Mode is playable offline and progression saves while playing offline
- Operations Mode requires an internet connection to save progress. Offline play will result in progress being lost
- Cross-play works across all platforms using the PROS platform. Be sure to link your accounts here.
- You can toggle on and off cross-play. Operations Mode encourages cross-play but Eternal War (PvP) pools PC players and console players in different lobbies
- There’s no LAN support in Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2
- Only one player can choose one type of Space Marine class per mission in Operations Mode. In Eternal War, there is a limit of two players per class per team
- Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 features no friendly fire in any mode any difficulty
- Steam Deck support is expected by the end of the year
- The PC version uses Easy Anti-Cheat
- Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 does not use DRM software
- Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 will be available on GeForce Now
- Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is not available on Xbox Game Pass
