Spider-Man: Brand New Day is the fourth Spider-Man movie in the MCU and a follow-up to 2021’s acclaimed No Way Home. Thanks to a shuffling of release dates at Disney and Marvel Studios, the anticipated superhero movie is now set to premiere before Avengers: Doomsday. The confirmed cast is pretty thin – aside from Tom Holland, Zendaya and a few others, it’s unknown who will be joining Peter Parker on his next adventure. A new report now claims that Mark Ruffalo will make a return as The Hulk in the next movie.
As reported by Nexus Point News, Mark Ruffalo is reportedly set to make an appearance in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which will be his tenth appearance in the MCU at large. However, it’s unclear how big of a role he’ll have to play in the movie. Some fans speculate that he might be featured as a cameo while others think it will be a more substantial role (that possibly sets Bruce Banner’s story up for Doomsday as well).
Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner/The Hulk last appeared in the Disney Plus TV show, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, where he acted as a sort of mentor figure to Tatiana Maslany’s Jennifer Walters. The Hulk also appeared in Thor: Ragnarok, though his role was far more substantial to the story than a guest appearance.
So far, Tom Holland is set to reprise his role as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in Spider-Man: Brand New Day alongside Zendaya as MJ, Jacon Batalon as Ned and Stranger Things actress Sadie Sink in an unconfirmed role. The role of the villain is also being kept tightly under wraps. After the events of No Way Home which took Peter back to his roots as a smaller friendly neighbourhood superhero, it’s likely that we’ll get a more personal Spider-Man story in the MCU where the goal might not be to save the entire universe again.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day releases on 31 July 2026.
