The official title for the upcoming Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse sequel has leaked online, before promptly being removed from the internet. According to a crew member working on the sequel, the official title is Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse, which all but confirms that the sequel will lean more heavily into its multiverse concepts.

As reported by The Cosmic Circus, the LinkedIn profile of CFX supervisor Simon Corbaux who is currently working on the sequel listed the project as Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse. Shortly after the title began to gain traction online, Corbaux’s profile was updated with the listening being changed to “Untitled sequel to Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse.” The LinkedIn profile was then delisted or became inaccessible to the public altogether, giving some credibility to this leak.

Corbaux also contributed to the upcoming MCU film Spider-Man: No Way Home, which is due out later this year and also seemingly tackles the multiverse. If this leak is to be believed (which is likely), then Sony Pictures will double down on the multiverse concept first introduced in the original animated film and might take its leading character, Miles Morales, across many multiverses.

Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse was released in late 2018 to critical acclaim, becoming the highest-rated Spider-Man film of all time. The animated odyssey followed newcomer Miles Morales, who becomes Spider-Man after encountering several Spidey’s from alternate multiverses, including Peter Parker himself. We reviewed Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse (awarding it a 9.5/10), calling it one of the most unique and visually astounding comic book films ever made. Sony’s animation department handled the eye-catching comic book-style visuals, balanced perfectly with the film’s emotional core focusing on Miles Morales and his many responsibilities of donning the Spider-Man mantle.

Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse will release on 7 October 2022, almost four years after the original film hit theatres.
