It is without a doubt the greatest superhero movie of all time for me I mean it just hits every single category you need it to hit it to also deliver a fresh storyline and one of the greatest superhero stories that I’ve ever experienced, it is my favourite Spiderman story. That was Into the Spiderverse so I had the highest expectation going into this movie.
Let me just say this movie blew me away. It is so freakin’ iconic just pure and every single frame in this movie is just pure art to me I mean I can’t even understand how anyone can see that Marvel or superhero movies or not art because this entire movie and the first one is like a testament to how freaking amazing and the most compelling emotionally charged art I have ever seen in my life. Every single scene in this movie is emotionally charged it has so many tonal colours and grading differences just based on the emotion that is conveyed in the scene that you don’t even see that’s so subtle and just absolutely enthralling to watch, I had such a blast watching this.
Thank you to Sony Movies SA and Nu Metro who allowed us to go and watch this movie early. I’m so excited that I got to see it before release day and I’m just honored by that. I don’t even have to talk about any spoilers because all you need to know is that this movie deserves and needs to be seen in the cinema the same way that we had to go to see Avatar The Way of Water because it was just this cinematic masterpiece of like visually stunning scenes from start to finish and that is what across the Spiderverse is too. You have to have to see it in the cinema, run, fly a don’t walk go in book for this movie now on June 2nd trust me it is absolutely psychotically amazing.
The visuals are just spine-tingling and stunning and enthralling and emotionally charged and at it’s core it’s a story about what makes a Spiderman against all odds when faced with impossible choices and defying all expectations this is without a doubt in my mind; I know we’re waiting for Elemental but this is the BEST animation of the entire year! Wall to ceiling.
There are a few scenes between Gwen and her dad where you see her in these punk rock kinds of colours that swirl around her expressing her mood and emotions yet when she goes to hug her dad the shades and entire tone of their expression of love is reflected in that explosion of colour, it is just such endearing moment to witness further reflecting the heart and soul that went into the animation of this movie.
Let’s talk about Spiderman India or aka Pivatr Prabhakar played by Karan Soni who you may know as Dopehinder from the Deadpool film series. This Indian version of Spiderman was so awesome and wicked to see and just the way that they brought the cultural representation and style into the character of Spiderman and then the way that his web-slinging is so freakin’ dynamic and awesome it’s like these bangles-type things would turn into like tops that he flings them out and then the webs sort of go around them as like a pulley type system but they’re so versatile and you can use them in like a bunch of different ways it’s almost mind-boggling to think like how does he do it in those tense situations in the way that he uses it to see save people it’s so so remarkable to see I love it.
It’s also just that he’s such a likeable character because of Karan Soni bringing that voice and bringing that sort of storytelling to his backstory which was really like my cinema bro Leolin said it’s “wholesome”, it was so wholesome to watch. The funniest thing is the name of the city he lives in. Combining Mumbai in Manhattan into Mumbattan and I loved the representation plus again his spectacular dynamic web-slinging.
It is across the board an absolute masterpiece praise to the writers, directors and voice actors and visual effects people that went into this movie. Your work is noted, admired and loved because the culture and style that they brought into this movie is so wholesome and wonderful to see.
There’s so much representation that I can’t even imagine how they brought all of this together it’s like flabbergasting to me, you know that’s the only word I can think of nothing else compares to how awesome and magnificent the scenes are. The culture, the personalities of all the Spider People that they brought into this. The character design and just the tone of the movie you’re just reminded of everything that was awesome and magnificent and pure in the first movie and how that was such a game changer. Trust me, this is going to be a game-changer. You’re not going to see it coming and you need to go and watch it in the cinema.
