Splitgate Beta 1047 games Splitgate Release Date

Splitgate Was Crazy Popular During The Beta So The Game Has Been Delayed

Splitgate is being delayed. Not because the game needs work and is full of bugs but because the most recent beta resulted in over 2 million players jumping onto the server. This has forced developer 1047 Games to pull back the release date to prepare the infrastructure for launch. This way that players have a smooth time when the game does go out of beta.

The multiplayer shooter was originally set to release on 27 July for PC, PS5, PS4 and Xbox. However, due to the overly popular beta test that is currently running, developer 1047 Games has pushed the release date back by one week. Splitgate will now release on 2 August instead.

The Splitgate beta was a huge success. Over two million players jumped into the game during the testing phase. At one stage, 1047 Games was even forced to shut the servers down in order to do emergency maintenance due to the sheer number of players in the game. Since then, the servers have stabilised and players are enjoying the experience. A statement from the devs reads:

Free online portal shooter Splitgate will remain in open beta into next month as 1047 Games has delayed the game’s official launch in the wake of 2 million players downloading the game and flooding the Splitgate servers in the past 14 days. The game’s open beta will remain online as the team works to scale server capacity to handle the exponential growth of the player base.

Tuesday’s pre-release beta version will feature the three new maps, and all-new customization options. It will also include many frequently requested features from its open beta, including mouse and keyboard support and an FOV slider on console, and customizable controller layouts. For those who want to still play the beta, you can.

The Splitgate beta is still currently running for PS4, PS5, Xbox and PC. The testing phase has been extended until the game’s launch. However, even the main game is a free-to-play experience so when it does arrive on 2 August, you can also just jump in. Find out more about Splitgate over on the official site here.
