Square Enix has announced a remaster of the original 2010 Nier game and has called it “Nier Replicant ver. 1.22474487139.” The game was fittingly announced during the series’ 10-year anniversary which saw the original game released on PS3 back in 2010. Square Enix released a new trailer showcasing some imagery from the Nier Replicant remaster which also showcases some of the game’s world.

Little is known about the Nier Replicant remaster as of now. We don’t know if the game will be a full remaster or simply a re-release with some enhanced visuals. The original game was quite different from the 2017 release of Nier Automata as it featured a man searching a vast land of ruins littered with deadly creatures known as “Shades” for a cure for his sick daughter.
The game has seen different releases in different countries. In Japan, Nier Replicant featured a younger brother and his sister whereas the West saw a father and daughter. The reveal trailer hints at the possibility that the remaster maybe the Japanese version of the game as the text “young, kind-hearted boy and his sister” gives us that idea. The Nier Replicant Remaster is also being developed by Toylogic and not Platinum Games who worked on the 2017 Nier Automata.
Square Enix also announced a new mobile game in the series called Nier Reincarnation for iOS and Android. The trailer, which is also quite vague shows off some artwork including empty cities and a place known as “the Cage.” According to the official site, Nier Reincarnation will be a free-to-play game with in-game purchases. Very little is known about the story and gameplay at this point.
