Square Enix has delayed the upcoming PS5 and PC exclusive Forspoken. The game, which was originally set to launch on 24 May will now launch on 11 October. Square Enix and Luminous Productions say the delay is needed in order to deliver a game world and hero that gamers around the world want to experience.
You may recall that in December, Square Enix released a new gameplay video for Forspoken which didn’t go down too well. The gameplay looked boring and the protagonist, Frey seemed very unlikeable.

Clearly, this substantial delay has been put in place to fix those issues which the media highlighted after the hands-off demo earlier this year. In a statement, the publisher says:
“We have made the decision to move the release date of Forspoken to October 11, 2022,”
Our vision for this exciting new IP is to deliver a game world and hero that gamers across the globe will want to experience for years to come, so getting it right is extremely important to us. To that end, during the next few months, we will focus all of our efforts on polishing the game and can’t wait for you to experience Frey’s journey this fall. Thank you for your understanding and continued support. We look forward to sharing more about Forspoken with you soon.”
Forspoken also marks the most expensive triple-A video game release in South Africa to date. The game, even in its standard edition form will cost your R1429 on the PlayStation Store for PS5 and the same price over on Steam for PC. Given this insane price tag, Square Enix better make sure the experience is up to standard. You can watch the latest gameplay down below.
