Square Enix Hopes to Show Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 2 This Year

This year marks the 25th anniversary of Final Fantasy VII. Yoshinori Kitase, Final Fantasy VII’s original director claims that he wants to reveal the first details on the Remake’s sequel this year to celebrate the game’s anniversary. However, he has also stated that while these are his intentions, fans should not get their hopes up as things might not go as planned.

Yoshinori Kitase shared the news during a special anniversary event in Japan saying that Square Enix is busy working on Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis – a mobile game based on the Final Fantasy VII story planned to release in 2022 for Android and iOS.

Kitase also says that the team are also working on the Remake Part 2 and there will be “more information…. this year if we can”.

Yoshinori Kitase says that the 25th-anniversary plans have just kicked off so, over the next 12 months, the studio wants to celebrate and get fans excited for the game.

We are still waiting for news in regards to the Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 2. Last we heard, co-director of FF7 Remake Part 1 Naoki Hamaguchi took over full directing duties for the sequel. Tetsuya Nomura then took over a broader creative director position on the project.

Square Enix released a wonderful statement in regards to the series saying that Final Fantasy VII is 25 years old this year and the game has never felt far away thanks to the fans. The studio also shared a new artwork to celebrate the game’s 25th anniversary.
