The second season of the popular Korean television series, Squid Game, is expected to arrive on Netflix sometime in 2024. Ahead of its release, the streaming service dropped a mysterious teaser trailer that raises more questions than answers about the plot of season 2, which is still being kept tightly under wraps. It’s unclear if the next season will reintroduce the deadly games from the first season or if it will take its own direction.
The new teaser trailer trailer for Squid Game season 2 is barely 18 seconds long and shows protagonist Seong Gi-hun, the winner of the first season’s games, seemingly on the hunt for the elusive people behind the deadly events. A voice on the phone tells him “you’ll regret your decision” before Seong Gi-hun goes full Liam Neeson, telling the caller that he will find them. That’s about all we got in the teaser so we’ll have to wait for a full trailer to find out where this is going.

Fans are worried that the second season of Squid Game won’t have the same impact as the first season – a trend one commenter pointed out hurt shows like Westworld once the unique premise exhausted itself. If season 2 brings back the games – which seems to be on the table judging by the new cast announcement – it might be treated as a simple rehash of the previous season unless it introduces something completely unexpected.
Without a release date, the wait for the next season could be quite a long one so in the meantime, we’re doing monthly guides on what’s coming to Netflix every month to keep you occupied. Make sure you read up on Netflix’s new shows and movies this February which includes the highly anticipated live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender series.
