The original S.T.A.L.K.E.R. was in many ways ahead of its time and it is still one of my favourite survival FPS experiences. Fans of the franchise got extremely excited when STALKER 2 was announced in May last year. Since then, however, we’ve heard absolutely nothing from developer GSC Game World. It has been 12 years since the release of Shadow of Chernobyl. Now, the official website and Twitter account for STALKER 2 have awoken.

The official STALKER 2 website has been updated with a new piece of artwork (the image at the top of this article) as well as a Music Pack that you can download and listen to. You can click on this link to download the track and click on this link for the STALKER 2 artwork above in 4K, perfect for your desktop.
The Twitter account waking up all of a sudden pretty much re-announced the game with a 2021 release date. Then, it shared the following tweet you can view below.
Hi, Stalkers!
You got on the official Twitter account for the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game franchise. Here we will share news and interesting content with you. Join our ranks 🙂#stalker2 #gscgameworld #stalker pic.twitter.com/ygvDhia58A— S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Official (@stalker_thegame) March 28, 2019
The developers are still aiming for a 2021 release date so it might be a while before we see gameplay. However, optimistic fans such as myself might look toward E3 2019 with hopes of more news about the game. The gaming industry’s biggest expo is just a few months away, so is it just coincidence that the STALKER 2 website and Twitter decided to wake up now?
