Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2 has yet to be announced, but thanks to numerous reports and rumours, it may become a reality soon. However, according to a new report by insider and journalist Jeff Grubb, the sequel will only be coming to PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC only, ignoring previous generation consoles.
As reported by Bespin Bulletin, Grubb stated that Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2 will not launch on previous gen consoles. It will instead launch on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S only in addition to PC.
While we recommend taking this with a grain of salt, Grubb has a good track record of accurate information and it’s very likely that developer Respawn Entertainment chose to shift their focus to newer hardware in the past few years.
This might be disappointing news to some fans who may not be able to get their hands on a current generation console yet, as both PS5 and Xbox Series X/S continues to face stock shortages worldwide. PlayStation have remedied this by promising that their biggest upcoming games, including God of War Ragnarok, will release on PS4 as well as PS5.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2 is expected to be announced on 4 May, which is Star Wars day. EA have yet to tease any possible announcements happening soon, though their cancellation of their annual EA Play Live event this year means that reveals will be spread throughout the year.
No plot or character details are known about the anticipated sequel. Respawn Entertainment is reportedly developing multiple projects at the moment, with one of them being Fallen Order 2. We’ll just have to wait and see if Grubb’s statement is accurate, but we believe it might be the case at this stage in the consoles’ life cycles as we see developers shift more towards making current gen games only.
