Star Wars KOTOR Remake News Dropping in Next Few Months

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake by Aspyr Media might receive some long-awaited news in the next few months. According to Embracer Group, fans can look forward to an update on the KOTOR remake before the end of the year. The game is still pinned to release as a PS5 console exclusive alongside PC.

Speaking in its Q4 financial report, Embracer Group – which owns developer Aspyr Media along with all of Square Enix’s former Western studios now – spoke about the anticipated Star Wars KOTOR Remake and its plans to divulge more information in the coming months.

Matthew Karch, a member of the board at Embracer Group, revealed that Saber Interactive is currently helping Aspyr Media develop the KOTOR remake, stating:

“Aspyr has gone full in to make this the best game that they can make. When we acquired Aspyr, we knew from the start that they would require our assistance. Saber has tremendous expertise in creating these types of products. We’ve done it on Halo — on multiple Halo products — we’ve done it on other titles that we’ve remastered over on other platforms.

We’re fully confident that the game is going to be fantastic but it’s a massive, massive product and massive products require a lot of effort and a lot of time to make good. And especially when you’re talking about a game already old — very old — we’ve basically had to remake that game from scratch. I would say in the next several months you’ll be hearing more from us about it.”

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic was originally developed by BioWare and released on the original Xbox and PC. The RPG is widely regarded as one of the best Star Wars video games of all time. Aspyr Media has big boots to fill if they wish to capture BioWare’s lightning in a bottle.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake is currently in development for PS5 and PC.
