New details regarding Ubisoft’s upcoming Star Wars Outlaws game have been revealed thanks to the latest issue of EDGE Magazine. For those who don’t know, Ubisoft Massive is working on its single-player Star Wars game set to launch sometime in 2024. The game follows the story of young thief Kay Vess and her lizard-dog-like companion Nix as they take on heists around the galaxy.
In the latest issue of EDGE Magazine, Creative Director Julian Gerighty gave fans an update on Star Wars Outlaws and what you can expect from the game’s exploration and planet size. A big thing to note is that Ubisoft Massive says that each planet in Star Wars Outlaws is fully handmade and features large hubs to explore.

According to Gerighty, there are more than four planets in Star Wars: Outlaws. By the sound of things, there might be five in total. Each planet is compatible in size with 2 or 3 zones in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. Each planet is also handcrafted and designed with immaculate detail.
As you explore these planets, you’ll unlock pre-determined take-off areas where you can leave from. You can’t fly around a planet. Instead, the game takes on a Star Wars Jedi approach where you choose to land on the planet and get to explore it until you leave.
Certain areas on each planet are locked off for Kay. She can’t enter them unless she gains a specific reputation rank for the planet’s faction. By the sound of things, if you’re good to a local faction, you can go anywhere you want. If you’re not, you’ll have to sneak into areas and avoid detection. Enemy factions will also send hunters out to chase you down. You can fight them or pay fines to clear your name.
When it comes to the gameplay in Star Wars Outlaws, Ubisoft says that between Kay and Nix, the combat will always feel refreshing. Nix can be directed to attack enemies and activate switches in the distance. He can also pick up heavy weapons and drag them towards Kay. She can, of course, use these weapons and other forms of combat to defeat her enemies.
Lastly, Ubisoft Massive confirms that Star Wars Outlaws is set between Empire and Jedi. So the game will tell an original story but many elements will feel new for players.
Star Wars Outlaws is set to launch sometime in 2024 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. Catch up on the gameplay reveal below.
