Ubisoft has issued a new patch for Star Wars Outlaws that fixes a load of bugs, improves performance across all platforms and adds a new graphics mode to PS5.
The patch is now live as version 1.000.002 across all platforms. It comes in at around 8.5GB and if you pick up Star Wars Outlaws at launch this week, you’ll likely want to install it.
For PS5 players, the patch adds a new 40FPS graphics mode that takes advantage of 120Hz VRR displays. Ubisoft has been quite fond of this mode across various games. It also acts as a great middle-ground for console games. The 40FPS is higher than 30FPS and the high refresh rate mode gives titles more breathing room for drops.
Ubisoft also says the update addresses performance issues and fixes bugs. However, the patch notes don’t explain exactly what is fixed. In my Star Wars Outlaws review, I mentioned the PC version was ridden with crashes. So much so that the game crashed 7 – 10 times an hour. We hope this issue has been addressed in the latest update.
While this patch is great news, Ubisoft has confirmed that some PS5 owners might be hit with a progression block as a result of updating their game. Some players claim to be stuck in space after installing version 1.000.002. Ubisoft says players affected by this bug will have to start a new game.
Star Wars Outlaws is available in early access for Gold and Ultimate Edition owners. You can also play the game through Ubisoft+. Standard Edition owners will get access on 30 August.
The Star Wars Outlaws 1.000.002 patch notes are as follows:
- Adds 40fps support for compatible displays
- Addresses performance issues
- Numerous bug fixes across the game
