Stardew Valley Has Sold Over 30 Million Copies

Stardew Valley, the 2016 farm life sim, is celebrating its eighth anniversary this year. Solo developer Eric Barone aka ConcernedApe shared the news that the game has sold over 30 million copies worldwide, making it the quintessential farm sim game that’s resonated with plenty of players irrespective of genre interests.

The 1.6 update for Stardew Valley‘s PC version was announced in the same social media post where Barone revealed that the game sold over 30 million copies. The update will also follow to mobile and console versions shortly after PC. Additionally, fans can look forward to a global concert tour and an official cookbook, which is coming very soon.

The post by Barone reads:

“It’s the 8th anniversary of Stardew Valley. Thank you for all the support over the years! Today I am announcing the PC Release date for the 1.6 update: –March 19th–. Console & Mobile will follow as soon as possible. With a new update on the horizon, a worldwide concert tour underway, an official cookbook coming soon, and now over 30 million copies sold, Stardew Valley is thriving more than ever. As always, I’m eternally grateful to the players (you!) for making all of this possible.”

Stardew Valley is available on several platforms including PC, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and mobile, no doubt contributing to the game’s enormous success and wide reach. For an indie game, it’s a truly impressive achievement, especially one primarily developed by one creator. It’s also great see the game still receiving constant updates to this day, despite being eight years old at this point.
