Bethesda has announced that both Bethesda Game Studios’ Starfield and Arkane’s Redfall have both been delayed to 2023. The company recently released a statement confirming the delay, citing that both games are quite ambitious and simply need more time in development.
Bethesda took to social media to share the statement, confirming the delay of both Starfield and Redfall to 2023. Both games were originally planned to launch in 2022, with Starfield even proudly claiming 11 November 2022 almost a full year in advance. Arkane Studios have a more vague 2022 release window, but it doesn’t seem like fans will be playing them anytime this year.

In the statement, Bethesda seemingly confirms that updates on both games will arrive “soon”, meaning we’ll likely see them in some capacity at the upcoming Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase. Starfield, in particular, is highly anticipated by fans as it marks a return to the developer’s RPG roots.
The full statement on the delay reads:
Redfall, the vampire-slaying co-op action game, was announced last year by Arkane Studios. Not much is known about the game either as gameplay has yet to be shown.
This leaves a bit of a void in Xbox’s exclusive releases planned for the second half of the year. The company could potentially fill it in with the next Forza Motorsport game, though it’s now notably lacking in heavy-hitters for the remainder of 2022.
Microsoft are currently working on multiple projects from its list of first-party studios including Playground’s Fable reboot, Obsidian’s RPG Avowed and The Outer Worlds 2, Ninja Theory’s Hellblade II: Senua’s Saga, Turn10’s Forza Motorsport and much more.
The Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase will take place on 12 June 2022 at 8PM SAST. We’ll likely see Starfield and Redfall there, but will have to wait a little while longer to play them.
