While Starfield is only launching today in early access, there are likely a few bugs and game issues players will encounter in the first few weeks of playing. Bethesda will patch most of these out but due to the sheer scope of Starfield, some issues might get more attention than others. This is where the gaming community comes in.
Nexusmods has confirmed that a community patch for Starfield is already in the works. The patch aims to fix game issues that might be overlooked by Bethesda and thanks to the community-driven support, we might see it grow into an even bigger project.

The official page for the Starfield community patch says it aims to “improve the vanilla experience for all players”. These tweaks will help squash bugs, fix script issues, replace misplaced items and objects and more.
Community patches usually focus less on adding content to the game and more on polishing up the experience where developers miss the mark. Knowing Bethesda, this patch will definitely come in handy for loads of game features.
The Starfield Community Patch (SFCP) project is a collective effort by mod authors and the wider player community of Starfield to fix bugs, errors and other inconsistencies present in the game. This includes tweaks, typos and other changes that may have been missed (or not yet released) by the developers. The overall goal is to improve the vanilla experience for all players.
Of course, a community patch doesn’t mean the game is bad but often it is easier to fix an issue with a mod instead of waiting for a studio to issue a patch.
Fixes included in the patch are intended to correct bugs or errors in the base game, examples include:
- Misplaced objects
- Script errors
- Inconsistencies in item properties
- Faulty missions/quests
- Game-breaking exploits
- Missing attributes (such as tags, header flags, etc.)
- Spelling/localisation errors
The patch is not intended to include any of the following:
- New content (new quests, missions, characters, items, etc.)
- Balance changes (outside of correcting obvious errors)
- Any tweaks that are not in keeping with the original vision for the game
