Xbox Game Pass R15 Trial Microsoft Starfield

Starfield Tops 1 Million Concurrent Players on Launch Day and 6 Million In Total

Bethesda has announced that its recently launched space RPG Starfield has topped 6 million players since its early access launch last week. Keep in mind that Starfield only officially launched on Xbox Game Pass and for Standard Edition owners on 6 September.

The developer claims Starfield is the biggest Bethesda launch game of all time. However, Fallout 4 shipped 12 million copies worldwide on launch day too but at the time, this number represented “copies shipped” and not sold. It is tough to say whether or not Fallout 4 had more active players but seems unlikely.

For a new IP, Starfield’s 6 million player count is impressive. To add to that, Phil Spencer claims that Starfield also exceeded 1 million concurrent players across all platforms on launch day. This includes Steam, PC through the Microsoft Store and Xbox Series X/S.

There’s no way to measure that from a public point of view but SteamDB says Steam players peaked at close to 270k. This means the remainder 700k players came from Xbox and the Microsoft Store.

Starfield is out now and you can either purchase it or play it on Xbox Game Pass. The game is also full of mods. The most recent one adds the PlayStation Studios startup logo to the game. There’s also a plethora of nude mods available to download too.
