Sony recently held its PlayStation State of Play showcase on June 2 and this time, they brought the heat. While a portion of the time was dedicated to highlighting thr PS VR2, plenty of surprises awaited from third-party publishers’ games coming to PS4 and PS5, including big surprises like Resident Evil 4 remake, Street Fighter 6 and Final Fantasy XVI.
The State of Play kicked off with the unexpected announcement of the Resident Evil 4 remake before delivering a short show-reel of upcoming PS VR2 games. No additional information was given for Sony’s next virtual reality device, but at least we know of some heavy-hitters coming to it. Here’s the full line-up of all the games announced during the June State of Play event.

Resident Evil 4 Remake Announcement Trailer
Capcom finally unveiled the long-awaited remake of Resident Evil 4, featuring updated visuals, gameplay, character models and environments. The stunning RE Engine does a lot of heavy-lifting in making the game look and feel wholly original despite being a remake. Expect it to arrive on PS5 on 23 March 2023.
Resident Evil Village PS VR2 Trailer
Resident Evil Village may not be getting DLC yet, but it’s finally getting the virtual reality treatment. Capcom announced that 2021’s beloved horror title and Game of the Year nominee will be coming to PS VR2, once again letting players step into the shoes of faceless protagonist Ethan Winters.
The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners PS VR2 Trailer
Skydance Interactive and Skybound Entertainment announced a new chapter in The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners, but it’s heading to PS VR2. If you’re looking for hordes of the undead in virtual reality, look no further than this when it arrives in late 2022.
No Man’s Sky PS VR2 Trailer
No Man’s Sky, the space exploration survival title, is also pinned for a PS VR2 release later this year. Take to the universe in a new dimension.
Horizon Trailers – Call of the Mountain PS VR2 and Forbidden West Update
Horizon was given the spotlight for two big announcements. The first was a new showcase of Horizon: Call of the Mountain, a stunning virtual reality experience coming to PS VR2 as well. We also got a new trailer confirming Horizon: Forbidden West‘s major update that brings a lot of balancing changes, a new Ultra Hard difficulty setting, transmog and more.
Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered PC Trailer
A bit of an unexpected surprise (though I’m sure Nvidia’s GeForce Now leak has a lot to answer for), Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered by Insomniac Games is finally coming to PC, bringing all the eye-candy you can squeeze of the experience.
Stray Release Date Trailer
Earlier this week, Stray got a release date leak of 19 July. Now that has turned out to be true thanks to this new gameplay and confirmation, showing us more of its platforming, stealth and combat as an adorable cat.
The Callisto Protocol Release Date Trailer
The Not-PUBG-Anymore horror game The Callisto Protocol got a release date trailer, setting a 2 December 2022 date on the world. We also got a brand new look at some gameplay, giving us a better idea about what we can expect.
Rollerdrome Reveal Trailer
One of the more unique looking games showcased at the State of Play event, Rollerdrome sports a terrific art style and some bizarre yet captivating gameplay.
Eternights Reveal Trailer
According to PlayStation, this is what you get when you combine a dating sim with an action RPG. Eternights‘ premise is already crazy enough, but the visuals take it up a few notches. Not a bad first impression.
Street Fighter 6 Gameplay Trailer
Capcom once again grabbed the spotlight for Street Fighter 6, finally showing off gameplay for the upcoming fighter. The RE Engine once again flexes its muscles and delivers some of the best graphics we’ve seen in the series (and probably in all of fighting game history) so far. This one is gonna be special when it drops in 2023.
Tunic PS4 and PS5 Trailer
The classic Zelda-inspired Tunic is finally leaving the Xbox/PC shores and drifting to PS4 and PS5. The trailer showcased some of the game’s areas, puzzles and combat sections, but either way, you should give this one a go.
Season: A Letter to the Future Reveal Trailer
Another rather unique game shown at the State of Play event, Season: A Letter to the Future also boasts a striking and bold art style with a heavy focus on its narrative.
Final Fantasy XVI Dominance Trailer
The show closed off with Square Enix producer Naoki Yoshida arriving to drop a new trailer for Final Fantasy XVI, showing off brand new gameplay and a release window of summer 2023. The long-awaited RPG will dive deeper into its real-time action elements, but the story seems to be focused on the summons and gods this time.
