Stellar Blade Main Story 25 Hours Complete

Stellar Blade Expected to Sell More on PC Than PS5

Stellar Blade developer Shift Up recently announced that its action title will be heading to PC via Steam within the next year, pinning its release date somewhere in 2025. While the exact sales figures for game’s PS5 release weren’t disclosed, Shift Up stated in its recent third quarter results that it was happy with its performance on Sony’s console. That said, the studio expects Stellar Blade to sell more copies on PC than PS5 when it launches.

Shift Up seems positive that Stellar Blade will sell better on PC than PS5 after the enormous success of Black Myth: Wukong, which sold an astounding 17.8 million copies as of September 2024. More recent sales figures suggest that Black Myth: Wukong has since sold over 21 million units worldwide across both PC and PS5, though most of its success comes from Steam sales through the Chinese market.

Shift Up stated during its third quarter results:

“With the addition of the Nier: Automata DLC and ongoing marketing activities, we plan to maintain the IP’s popularity until the platform expansion. Considering recent trends such as Steam’s expanding market share in the AAA game sector and the global success of Black Myth: Wukong, we expect the performance on PC to exceed that on console.”

Stellar Blade will receive its long-awaited Nier: Automata DLC udpate on 20 November, giving players access to a variety of outfits worn by familiar characters from the PlatinumGames title. Shift Up didn’t mention if the new content will be free, so players will likely have to pay for all the Nier items. The November update will also include a Photo Mode.

Recent datamines into this year’s critically acclaimed PS5 exclusive Astro Bot have also unearthed files in the game for Stellar Blade, suggesting that a crossover might be happening in Team Asobi’s game soon too.

Stellar Blade is available on PS5. A PC release date has yet to be announced.
