Stellar Blade has gone gold ahead of its launch later this month. The game is set to launch on 26 May exclusively for PS5 and the development team at Shift Up shared a photo to celebrate the game’s completion.
Stellar Blade has made headlines recently. The game got its own standalone demo at the end of March which let players test out the beginning chapter. Players can also carry over their progress from the demo to the main game when it launches. If you haven’t played the demo yet, you should. You can read our full thoughts on the small portion of the game here.
While players are excited for Stellar Blade, the game’s input lag has also been a major concern. According to tests, the game can reach 230sm of input lag when playing in Performance Mode. This will drastically affect your parry and block timing. Developer Shift Up says players should make sure to enable Game Mode on their TVs to counter this. However, this solution isn’t enough as most TVs include this feature automatically.
Players, like myself, are hoping that Shift Up has improved the input lag in Stellar Blade ahead of its launch. If not, fans might not enjoy the game as much as they should due to the input lag affecting combat.
According to Digital Foundry, input lag is a common problem in Unreal Engine 5 games, especially on PlayStation hardware. The engine has had a history of problems since the PlayStation 3.
We don’t know what the plan is yet for Stellar Blade reviews. With the game now gold, review codes might be sent out in the next few days. This means the embargo for Stellar Blade reviews will be a few days before its launch on 26 April. We will keep you updated on the review embargo once we learn more.
We’re a little late with this post.
