Developer Shift Up says it’s exploring a potential PC port and sequel to its recently released action game, Stellar Blade. The game launched last month to mostly positive reviews and some tremendous sales success – at least in Japan where it reportedly sold out almost everywhere. A sequel is now on the table along with a PC version for PC players to enjoy.
As reported by Gematsu, Shift Up is looking into a PC port and sequel to Stellar Blade alongside working on a new IP codenamed Project Witches, which has been compared to Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail. The South Korean studio didn’t provide any more details beyond that, though it’s good to know that Stellar Blade was considered a huge success and enough to get both a port over to PC as well as a continuation. The demo alone managed to surpass the player numbers for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth on PS5, which says a lot.
Unfortunately, Shift Up is not planning any major DLC for Stellar Blade beyond smaller updates like skins and collaborations, along with more fixes and patchwork down the line. Considering that Shift Up is a relatively small studio as well, it’s not surprising.
In our full review for Stellar Blade, we called it a “phenomenal game” that has a lot of potential:
“Beyond its minor flaws, mostly about the skill system, Stellar Blade is a phenomenal game. It is quirky and off-beat. Something we haven’t seen from a PS5 exclusive in a long time. This game sort of reminds me of the other great PlayStation exclusives which have all been forgotten in favour of Sony’s more popular IPs. Heavenly Sword, Folklore, Puppeteer. While it isn’t the master of anything, I hope Stellar Blade sticks around because there’s a lot of potential here.”
Stellar Blade is available exclusively on PS5.
