Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League was previously on track to release in May this year before developer Rocksteady Games chose to delay it to an unknown date in late 2023. We now have confirmation that it has been delayed once again to 2 February 2024 after the poor reception the game received following its big gameplay showcase at a previous PlayStation State of Play event.
Rocksteady has announced that Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League will now launch in February 2024 to give the team more time to work on the game. No exact reason for its delay was mentioned but it’s possible that the studio is going back to the drawing board and changing up some of the gameplay’s criticised elements. Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier previously claimed that the delay wouldn’t remove the live-service features but that could very well change now.

Speaking on its social media channels, Rocksteady released the following statement:
“We have made the tough but necessary decision to take the time needed to work on getting the game to be the best quality experience for players. Thank you to our amazing community for the continued support, patience and understanding. There is much more to share in the months ahead and we look forward to seeing you in Metropolis next year.”
In an industry that rushes games out the door in buggy or broken states, delays are almost certainly a good thing as it allows developers to fine-tune the experience with the added development time. While we don’t know what changes may occur as a result of Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League‘s delay, hopefully it makes the necessary adjustments to address the growing concerns over the game.
Back in February, the game received a gameplay deep dive at a PlayStation State of Play to a mostly negative reception from fans and critics. Many were put off by its by-the-numbers gameplay, live-service elements and overwhelming gear systems that players would probably need to grind long hours for.
Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League now launches on 2 February 2024 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
