Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League Gets New 20-Minute Gameplay Dive

Warner Bros. Games and developer Rocksteady have released a 20-minute gameplay and story dive into its upcoming superhero action game, Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League. Rocksteady announced earlier this week that it would begin hosting an ongoing “insider” series of videos to give players a closer look at the game. The first episode has now arrived, giving players a glimpse at the characters in action as well as their stories.

The first episode offers a 20-minute gameplay and story showcase – the first gameplay for Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League since its divisive gameplay reveal earlier this year. Not much has actually changed apart from giving the characters a few more unique qualities in combat. For example, Harley Quinn and Captain Boomerang are far more agile, mixing melee and ranged attacks, while King Shark is basically a brutish tank. Deadshot, on the other hand, is far more tactical, using a variety of gadgets and weapons to deal with enemies.

As the story goes, the Suicide Squad find themselves in Metropolis, forced to work together again after Brainiac succeeds in his plans to enslave the minds of the Justice League heroes. Being labelled the “anti-heroes”, they must overcome their differences and take on some of the most recognisable faces from the superhero team inlcuding The Flash, Batman and Superman, among others.

Fans are still divided on the gameplay. As of writing, the video currently has 15k dislikes to 9.1k likes. However, others say it looks just “fine”, which we agree with. There’s nothing particularly bad about the gameplay and the story seems fun, though from a developer with a portfolio as acclaimed as Rocksteady, it’s understandable why many would expect more from the studio. That’s just the first episode in a four-part series, so we’ll reserve our judgement for now.

Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League launches on 2 February 2024 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. Watch the first episode below:
