Producer and host Geoff Keighley has confirmed that Summer Game Fest 2024 will return on Friday, 7 June. The show will feature an opening showcase dedicated to game announcements, world premieres and updates followed by the multi-day Play Days where attendees can get hands-on with some of the upcoming games in Los Angeles.
Geoff Keighley announced that Summer Game Fest will return as an in-person event this year, once again broadcasted from the YouTube Theater in Los Angeles. Day of the Devs: SGF Edition will be presented on the livestream immediately following the live showcase for Summer Game Fest 2024. Furthermore, SGF Play Days, an invite-only media and influencer event, will take place in downtown Los Angeles from 8-10 June.
With the cancellation of E3, Summer Game Fest is seemingly filling the major summer game show slot with a similar format of big reveals. Last year’s event saw the reveal of Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown and Sonic Superstars, plus the first gameplay for Alan Wake 2 and Mortal Kombat 1. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 also received a release date at the 2023 show alongside a new trailer for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.

This year, Summer Game Fest is teasing viewers with a look at “what’s next” in video games. We can probably expect exciting reveals, new gameplay and more from upcoming games. The second half of 2024 is looking mostly empty in terms of major releases so hopefully Summer Game Fest will give players something to look forward to in this quiet year. 2025, on the other hand, will see the releases of Pokemon Legends Z-A, Death Stranding 2: On The Beach and GTA 6, which analysts call “the most important thing to ever release in the industry.”
