Summer Game Fest host Geoff Keighley has officially announced that this year’s annual gaming event will take place on 6 June, starting with the anticipated Live Kickoff Show at the YouTube Theatre in Los Angeles, California. This will also be followed by Play Days, which will give attendees opportunities to walk the floor and play exciting upcoming titles from 7-9 June. However, Keighley says Summer Game Fest 2025 will have ‘spectacular announcements and reveals’ in store for viewers.
It might be difficult to top last year’s The Game Awards, which many agreed was possibly the best year in the show’s history. Filled with genuinely exciting reveals, longer acceptance speeches and more, it gave fans a good glimpse into the future of video games. However, this year’s Summer Game Fest also plans to double down on that momentum with “spectacular new video game announcements, surprises, and reveals.”
Organisers of this year’s event say it will delve into “some of the key changes, challenges and opportunities facing the global video game industry, as well as celebrate the cultural impact and importance of video games as the most powerful form of entertainment in the world.”
This year will also add a new business-to-business event to Summer Game Fest curated by former GamesIndustry.biz boss Christopher Dring. The event will feature “thought leaders from gaming, entertainment and beyond, bringing multiple industries together on one stage for insightful discussions.”
The two-hour Live Kickoff Show will take place on Friday, 6 June at 5 – 7PM ET / 10PM – Midnight GMT / Midnight – 2AM CAT.
On Friday, June 6, @SummerGameFest returns to show you what’s next in video games from more than 40 leading game publishers.
Live from YouTube Theater in LA.
Followed by SGF: Play Days from @iam8bit and a new thought-leader event in Los Angeles.
