The Super Mario Bros. Movie’s Second Trailer Arrives at Nintendo Direct Today

The Super Mario Bros. Movie is getting a second trailer at a recently announced Nintendo Direct showcase today. Nintendo made the announcement on its official social media pages confirming that fans can tune into the show at 2PM PT (or 12AM CAT, midnight for South Africans) to catch the new trailer. The company also stated that no game information will be shared at this event as it’s strictly for the movie.

“Join us at 2:00 p.m. PT on 11/29 for the world premiere of The Super Mario Bros. Movie‘s second trailer!” reads the Nintendo post. “No game information will be included in this #NintendoDirect.” The first trailer for The Super Mario Bros. Movie debuted its first trailer last month to some feeling good about Jack Black’s faithful performance as Bowser, while others left concerned about Chris Pratt’s Mario voice which doesn’t even sound Italian.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie features an all-star cast that consists of Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya-Taylor Joy as Princess Peach, Jack Black as Bowser, Charlie Day as Luigi, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong and Charles Martinet – the iconic voice of Mario in the video games – playing an undisclosed role which somehow isn’t Mario. I’m confused too.

The backlash surrounding Pratt’s Mario voice stems from the actor claiming that his performance is “unlike anything you’ve heard” which puzzled people when it turned out that his Mario voice was just his regular speaking voice. It’s even stranger when you factor in that Nintendo hired Martinet to voice other characters in the movie but not Mario himself, though we imagine it had something to do with attracting audiences through Hollywood star power.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie currently has a release date of 7 April 2023. Expect to see a new trailer later and plenty of new information.
